Flathead Healthcare Expansion Contagious

KALISPELL -

Whitefish's North Valley Hospital is not the only care center growing in the Flathead.

This summer, Kalispell Regional Medical Center hired twenty-one new physicians.

Over the past year, the Hospital has hired 545 full and part-time employees, growing their staff to more than 2,800.

The hospital also opened a new student health clinic at Flathead Valley Community College as well as a new mental health outpatient clinic.

KRMC's vice president, Jim Oliverson, chalks the growth up to an expanding, and aging, population.

"We're aging, and as we age, I'm speaking to this from personal experience, things go wrong that didn't go wrong when you were in your mid-20s," said Oliverson.

Last year, KRMC gave about $22.5 million dollars worth of charity care.
