Since the government shutdown, National Park Rangers are issuing trespassing citations to people found inside the parks.
Spokesperson for Yellowstone National Park, Al Nash said the park has issued a few written citations.
Boundary patrol employees still remain on-duty even though the park is shutdown. Nash said rangers always make sure people know the park is closed before issuing a citation.
"If somebody comes to the gate, they are staffed and we are telling people their closed," said Nash. "If our rangers come upon somebody in the park, our first approach is to tell them that they are in the park and the park is closed."
Nash adds the park's priority is to maintain a safe environment for those who live in the park and do their best to protect Yellowstone.
