MSU Fans Define True Cats Fans For Homecoming

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

You can feel the excitement in Bozeman this weekend surrounding tomorrow's Bobcat football game.

It's homecoming, a weekend where dedicated fans return to their university from across the country.

It was a sea of blue and gold at the intersection of Main and Wilson Friday evening for the pep rally getting people pumped for Saturday's homecoming game against Northern Arizona.

Many dedicated Cats fans said being a fan means more than just putting on a Bobcats' shirt.

"Dedication, determination, a lot of heart and just be willing to go out there every Saturday and cheer them on," said Lisa Fabain, MSU alumna.

"Just watching them," said Marika Schultz. "It is a lot of fun. Once you get engaged it's fun. You just can't stop watching."

"I think a Bobcat fan is the experience," said Tom Heck, MSU Alumnus.  "Going through school, going to basketball games, football games whether we win or lose just the fun, the excitement."

And excited they were Friday evening. Many people were posing for a picture with Champ and dancing.

Fabain and Heck said they even took the spirit of the Bobcats across the country.

"I took the Bobcat spirit all the way down to North Carolina," said Fabain. "We used to watch Cat Griz in a little place in North Carolina."

"I made the trip to Grand Forks last weekend to watch the Bobcats play because it was close in my area," said Heck.

This weekend he made the trip from Minnesota to Bozeman to watch the game.

Tickets for Saturday's game are already sold out, but you can always catch all of the Bobcat games on ABC Montana.

This week's coverage starts at 2 p.m.
