Firefighter's Contract Ready For Ratification

Posted: Updated:
KALISPELL -

After nearly six months of negotiations, the Kalispell firefighter's contract is up for approval Monday, October 7.

The three-year proposed contract would apply to about thirty firefighters in the local union.

In 2015 and 2016 the contract calls for a two percent wage increase for entry level firefighters, translating into a more than $60,000, overall, financial impact each year.

The previous contract ended on June 30.

"Anytime you have collective bargaining you have various issues that are discussed. We had some clean up language and some promotional board components. What's required; who sits on the promotional board," said Doug Russell, Kalispell's city manager.

The contract will be presented to city council October 7 in an open meeting.
