Mayor Reads To Reach A Record

KALISPELL -

Ms. Munday's first grade class at Lillian Peterson Elementary School in Kalispell is learning about literacy from the mayor.

Kalispell Mayor Tammi Fisher stopped by to read "Otis" by Loren Long Thursday to twenty students, including her youngest son, Tucker.

Her visit is a small piece of a national movement, Read for the Record, trying to elevate reading by setting the world record for the largest shared reading experience.

Read for the Record is an annual event, and Mayor Fisher has played a part reading to children for three years.

"For good or bad, little kids tend to look up to city leaders and I think it's important in city leadership that we bring our experience to the classroom level," said Mayor Fisher.

You can read "Otis" on or off the record here.
