Members of the Montana's Sheriff's Peace Officers Association will tour the so called "man camps" at the Bakken oil fields on Thursday and Friday.
The organization will be learning about the oil boom and its impacts on area law enforcement. Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin said there has been an increase of crime, traffic crime and accidents in Glendive.
Sheriffs from other parts of Montana have stepped up to help by offering transport of Glendive inmates to their respective facilities.
"It's nice for us to be over here and actually see it and be able to go back and educate our community," said Gootkin. "There's traffic going through our county on a day to day basis going to the oil fields and back and people are not necessarily doing what they're suppose to be doing."
Sheriff's from both Montana and North Dakota will meet on Friday to go over administrative procedures.
