POLSON -

A Polson man accused of raping and killing a man near Wild Horse Hot Springs back in May, pleads not guilty to charges in court on Thursday.

Melvin Madplume Jr., 29, pleaded not guilty to sexual intercourse without consent and deliberate homicide in Lake County District Court.

Prosecutors said Madplume initially told law enforcement 26-year-old Lawrence Kenmille fell, hit his head and died near the hot springs.

However, an autopsy revealed Kenmille drowned due to homicidal violence.

Madplume will appear again in court on November 21.
