Cats Basketball Gearing Up

Posted: Updated:
Montana State had it's third practice tonight. The cats are trying to build on a fourth place conference finish last season, in which they got hot just at the right time. This year it's about stopping the opponent, and a good attitude.

"There mindset and mode is developing into something we want in terms of their focus their intensity their alertness, committed to playing defense some things that hampered this group last year," said head coach Brad Huse.

While MSU could score with ease last season, the defense needs some work. Coach Huse says that has to be a priority this season.

"One of the poor teams in the league defensively, no way to sugar coat that we've got to make some adjustments. Gotta take a better approach to that and defend as a team and individually better," said Huse.

Several key guys coming back from last season, which gives Coach Huse plenty of advantages.

"One thing about having a lot of returnees back is that they're going to be more committed and determined to build on last year and this group has really done that it's been great working hard in the weight room," said Huse.

This team has big time goals that take place in the month of March.

"Build on the success of the offensive end and move up in the league that's really a goal for this group playing an important game in March come tournament time," said Huse.
