On Wednesday, the Missoula Family Violence Council honored community members for their commitment to serving victims of relationship violence.
The annual awards ceremony at the Missoula County Courthouse was in connection with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Health professionals, peace officers, and those who provide legal services to victims of sexual or domestic violence were honored at the ceremony.
Emily Lucas, a UM Law Student and award recipient, said, "Providing legal services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking is vital to allowing those people to leave those situations, and there's a great need in our community."
The Missoula Family Violence Council aims to increase awareness about relationship violence, sexual assault and stalking, and works to end and prevent violence.
