Snow Is Affecting Summer Activities At Big Sky Resort

Big Sky Resort is starting to see a lot of snow, but they are still in their summer season for a few more days.

Resort officials say Lone Peak Mountain is starting to fill in with snow.

They also say snow has fallen in Mountain Village but melts during the day.

The resort wraps up their summer season Wednesday, but the snow is closing some things early.

"Today we had to close down our main chair lift, Swift Current, for scenic viewing and our Lone Peak Expedition tram to the top activity due to the weather, due to the snow," said Sheila Chapman, Big Sky Resort spokeswoman.

Chapman said with the expected warmer temperatures this weekend, those activities will be open.

She urges people to call the resort at 800-548-4486 or check their website to see what activities are running before you head to the resort.

Chapman also said this early snow is a reminder discounted season pass sales end Monday.

The resort opens for skiing November 28.
