Students Are Rolling Up Long Sleeves To Give

KALISPELL -

As winter weather sets in, so does flu season, and the need for more blood donations.

More than three dozen students at Flathead Valley Community College signed up to give blood on September 26 in an effort to reach their goal of thirty pints.

After the drive, the blood heads to a lab for testing, then is distributed across the state as needed.

As blood only has a forty-two-day shelf life, there are blood drives planned almost every day in the Valley.

"It's done twice a year at this college, cause they do it in the spring semester and they do it in the fall semester, and then there are around the Valley a lot," said Melody Bozhy, a student volunteer at FVCC.

September 27 the Kalispell Blood Center will take donations at the Flathead Bank in Bigfork. Call the Kalispell Blood Center at 406.755.7237 to learn about other opportunities to give.
