Griz Soccer Ready To Finish Off Non-Conference

Posted: Updated:

The Griz soccer team looks to cap off their non-conference slate Friday, as they host the University of Nevada.

The team is coming off a Big Sky Championship, and expectations were high heading into the season.  Unfortunately for the Griz, several key players have been injured, meaning younger players have had to step in and play big minutes...and while their 2-3-3 record isn't what coach Mark Plakorus hoped for, he isn't worried just yet.

"In terms of how we're playing, we're actually playing pretty well.  This past weekend at Creighton, we actually went in and played a team that had outscored its last five opponents, 21-2, and we were up 1-0 to them for 86 minutes, and by far were the better team.  So we're playing well, and that's sometimes tough to see when you're only looking at results, but that doesn't tell the whole story.  I'm very pleased with the progress we're making, but we can get better, and we need to get better," says Plakorus.
