Sourdough Fire Department Breaks Ground On New Facility

BOZEMAN -

The Sourdough Fire Department has broken ground on their new 10,000 square foot facility.

The new station will have four engine bays, office space, eight dorm rooms and a community disaster area. The old building had two buildings, one for the engines and one for gear and storage.

Sourdough Fire District Trustee, Don Bachman said the new building will help with response times and should last about 80 years.

"There may be need for additional facilities, by then," said Backman. "The way this facility is being constructed, it will be a permanent facility that is earth quake proof."

The new facility is being funded by a $2.9 million bond approved by voters last November. Construction should be completed by May of 2014.
