The Griz football team is off to a tremendous start, undefeated through two games. But quietly doing just as well this year, the Grizzly golf team. The squad has a short fall season, with only four tournaments, just one of them at home. But they took first by a wide margin in their first tournament of the year.
Making it even more impressive, the team didn't have a coach until about a week before their first tournament, meaning it was up to the upperclassmen to be ready for their first rounds on the course.
"These young ladies, knowing they didn't have a coach yet when they came into school, took it upon themselves to practice in an organized fashion. They got together to condition. Not having a coach to tell them to do that, and for me that showed a lot of character and commitment and made me excited about being here," says first year head coach Joni Stephens.
