City Of Kalispell Pushes Through Pumped Up Pay Day

KALISPELL -

It is official: nonunion, city workers in Kalispell will be taking home a bit more money come Tuesday.

Kalispell city council approved a 2.5% pay raise two days ago in an open meeting.

The pay raise applies to forty-nine employees and costs the city a little more than $70,000 a year.

The pay raise was proposed, in part, to keep up with state pension reforms that upped retirement contributions by 1%.

It was not all smooth sailing, though.

Council member, Bob Hafferman, opposed the percentage-increase method, arguing those with bigger paychecks will take home even more now, while those with smaller pays will see less compensation.
