Montana Tech Names Starter at QB

Posted: Updated:
The most important player on any football team is the quarterback. As Montana Tech gets ready for it's opener with Eastern Oregon, Head Coach Chuck Morrell has named a starter.

"Herman Tapley is going to be the starter but Brian Schwarzkoph has just gotten back from injury and has gotten better and better the last couple of days feel very comfortable we've got some depth there," said Chuck Morrell.

Tapley and Schwarzkoph both have big time advantages for the Diggers.

Herman has a great arm he gets the ball there fast and Brian it's all about the mental game knows the offense inside and out doesn't have any questions when he steps on the field," said Morrell.

No matter who takes the snaps, either guy will have plenty of weapons around him.

"The strength of our team is the offensive skill guys I mean we have 8 receivers that we can play, 3 running backs that can play so it's really just delivering the ball to our play makers that's the way our offense sets up," said Morrell.

The defense has few questions marks, simply because of experience.

"It's a veteran group you look at our front seven it's a bunch of guys that have played together for two and three years it's fun to see that evolution and how those guys have grown together and there's a huge trust factor with those guys right now," said Morrell.

The Diggers are ready to get this thing going, but Eastern Oregon is not a cupcake.

"They're very athletic on offense that's the biggest thing you put up 465 yards of offense against Portland State which is Big Sky team they didn't have success putting the ball in the endzone but they didn't have a problem moving the football so that's something that's concerning us," said Morrell.
