Four Groups Want To Buy Story Mansion

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

Four groups are trying to buy the Story Mansion from the city of Bozeman.

Tree of Life Ministries, Montana Center for Civic Engagement, Story Mansion Inn and The Bozeman Art Museum submitted proposals to the city commissioners to buy the property.

The Bozeman Art Museum wants to convert the historic building into a museum. Story Mansion Inn wants to turn it into a hotel with convention space.

Tree Of Life Ministries wants to turn into a school and the Montana Center for Civic engagement wants to turn the 103-year-old building into a civic center.

"It is nice to see the city commissioners have broad choices here and it is a chance to have that very important discussion about the Story Mansion being part of our public life," said Bob Hawks with Montana Center for Civic Engagement.

Right now the Story Mansion is a public park and community center.

In April, the city announced it would take proposals for organizations interested in buying the property.

The city bought the property in 2003.
