UM Students Wear Their Maroon For Game Day

MISSOULA -

On the big day before the Griz season opener Griz fans showed their support on Friday, by sporting their maroon and silver.

It's part of the Second Annual College Colors Day spirit competition. Griz fans were encouraged to vote for UM to win the Spirit Cup Award.

160 colleges and universities took part in the competition, and the Iowa Hawkeyes took home the prize for being the school with the most school spirit. UM students say that's not stopping them from showing their support for the Griz.

"Oh, we just get to show off our team spirit, and it's nice being a part of such a big organization, just go Griz," said UM student Bill Firmage.

UM athletics officials want to remind all fans that Saturday's game is a maroon out. That means everyone is encouraged to wear maroon to show their support for their team.
