Suspicious Man Approaches Bozeman Boy

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

Bozeman Police say on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at approximately 4:15 p.m. a 9-year-old boy was contacted by a man in a passenger vehicle at the intersection of S. Willson & W. College St. while riding his bicycle.

Police say as the child rode by, the male reportedly stopped his vehicle and stated, "hey kid…come here…do you want to go with me." At no time during the contact did the driver exit the car or try to grab the boy. The 9-year-old left the area immediately and went directly to a place of safety and reported the incident to a trusted adult.

The Bozeman Police Department and our School Resource Officers are working together with the Bozeman School District in investigating this incident thoroughly. They said it's a reminder to take the opportunity to discuss this incident with your children and develop preventative measures to make children aware of potential dangers.

Police say the vehicle involved was an older model, white sedan with the male described as being a white male, 40-50 years old, with short dark hair.  If anyone has information regarding this specific approach, we urge you to call the Bozeman Police Department.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident, comments or questions, call the Bozeman Police Department at 582-2000.
