Mayor Makes Decision On Splash Park

BOZEMAN -

After a split vote by the Bozeman City Commissioners, on Monday night Mayor Sean Becker will make a final decision if a splash park will be built at the Bozeman Ponds.

The city has $225,000 set aside to build the splash park. After Bogert pool experienced ongoing problems with it's drainage system, Commissioners decided earlier this summer that a splash park would be a great temporary asset to the city.

City Aquatics Director, Dan McCarthy said Bozeman Ponds is good location because it already has facilities to support the splash park.

"We can look at another area, but the $225,000 we have allocated would have to be used to build a bathroom and we would have to make the project smaller," said McCarthy.

If Commissioners approve the project, McCarthy said the city will immediately begin to accept construction bids.
