Fire Season In Flathead Here To Stay?

Posted: Updated:
KALISPELL -

Fire season has not only come to the Flathead Valley, but it seems to be sticking around this year.

Luke Robinson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, explains that a combination of gusty winds, low humidity, and the chance of lightening have prolonged -- and heightened -- the area's risk for flames.

Robinson reminds those in the region to think twice about sparking any controlled burns and to keep a close eye on campfires.

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for the Flathead and Glacier National Park due to the likelihood of thunderstorms, which ended at 3:00 p.m. on August 23.
