Rain, Low Winds Help Crews on Lolo Creek Complex

Posted: Updated:
LOLO CREEK -

Much-needed rain showers and low winds help crews battling the Lolo Creek Complex fire -- the top firefighting priority in the nation.

Officials said the fire has burned 9,500 acres since it exploded in size on Monday afternoon.

More than 650 personnel focused on holding fire lines on Friday, after containing 30% of the fire Thursday night.

They said they're on alert for erratic fire behavior as thunderstorms are expected to roll in from the southwest.

Residents are able to return home by permit between 9 a.m. and noon., but Highway 12 remains closed, and evacuations are in still place from Sleeman Gulch to Graves Creek Road.
