Miner Paradise Complex Closures

Posted: Updated:
PARADISE VALLEY -

Pre-evacuation notices along with closures are in place along Upper Tom Miner Road as the Miner Paradise Complex fire continues to gobble up acres in the Gallatin National Forest.

The Sheep, Emigrant, Horsetail and North Eightmile fires have burned more than 11,000 acres.

The Tom Miner Basin including the Tom Miner Campground, East Fork Hyalite, Emerald Lake Trailhead, Flanders Creek Drainage and portions of the Sixmile Creek Road are all closed.

Resources are still limited as they are being pulled to work on higher priority wildfires, but crews are doing their best to fight the blazes.

"It's hand crews we're mostly using because of the severely steep high country," said Jack Conner, Public Information Officer. "We're only using mechanisms equipment where we can, but most of it is being fought on foot because of the rocky country and the high nature of where we're at."

As the fires continue to grow, Fire Officials say the gate at the East side of Hyalite Dam may close as well.
