Whitefish Looks To Public For How To Handle Land

Posted: Updated:
WHITEFISH -

The city of Whitefish is preparing for an upcoming public forum on what to do with a piece of land in the U.S. 93 corridor.

Between Miles Avenue and Mountainside Drive-- officials hope to decide what to do with this land that has become more commercial and less residential in recent years.

John Wilson, the Whitefish Public Parks Director, does not think he will see much strong public opposition to developing the land during the open house.

The Whitefish steering committee also met before their 2:30 p.m. meeting to tour the U. S. 93 corridor, the area for which the planning agreement is being drawn up.

"Just kind of coaching the steering committee members on you know what to do and how to document people's comments, telling them what their subject area is going to be--that kind of logistics," explained Wilson in regards to yesterday's proceedings.

The meeting intended for public input is this Tuesday, August 20, but there are three more public involvement meetings throughout September and November. You can learn more about these meetings and the progress of the land agreement here.
