3-story Pavilion Goes Up in Silver Park

MISSOULA -

Crews are raising a three-story frame of a pavilion and picnic shelter in Silver Park near the Osprey stadium.

City officials said the pavilion is located next to existing bench shelters along the Riverfront Trail.

Officials said the timber used to build the shelters and pavilion is from the old Champion mill site.

They said crews are also using timber from sinker logs from the Blackfoot and Clark Fork River restoration project.

Adam Riley, of Teton Timber Framing said, "Well, it seems like a great focal point for lots of people to gather, I could see lots of different uses -- farmer's markets, open-air concerts, yeah, it just feels like the gathering place in the middle of Silver Park."

Crews said they expect to have the entire pavilion project done by early October.

The completion of Silver Park is part of a $5.7 million project to revamp Missoula's Old Sawmill District, which included connecting Wyoming Street to connect Orange and Russell Streets.
