Public Comments Wanted on New Poverello Center Site

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

Missoula County officials are asking for your opinion regarding an analysis on the environmental impacts from the new Poverello Center.

Last month, the state awarded a $450,000 grant to the City of Missoula to help construct the new homeless shelter, located at the site of the old Trail's End Bar on West Broadway.

The grant was part of the Community Development Block Grant as part the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Program.

When HUG provides funding projects, it requires local governments to conducts an environmental assessment.

The City of Missoula conducted an environmental assessment in 2012.

Just recently, the county found no significant impacts to the environment that would prevent the move in a recent environment study.

Now, they are welcoming public input.

Comments can be submitted by e-mail to povcomments@co.missoula.mt.us or by mail to: Department of Grants and Community Programs, Attn: Poverello Comments, 200 West Broadway, Missoula, MT 59802.
