MSU Volleyball Poised for Big Season

Posted: Updated:
MSU Volleyball had a winning record last year, for the first time in seven years. But with several starters not returning from a year ago, the cats will have to rely on first year players, for more wins this year.

"Half of our team is freshmen so they're going to have an extremely important role on the team this season we're going to have to incorporate them into every single line up pretty much with passing with hitting with everything," said sophomore Eli Svisco.

:Taking the eight freshmen that have come in and integrating them into our system and into our program and just working on the things we did struggle with last year and bringing the freshmen along so that we won't struggle with that this year and turn those into strengths instead of weaknesses," said senior Nicole Baker.

"We lost a lot of points last year from graduation and players leaving so we need someone if it's a freshmen or a returner we're going to need point," said head coach Kyle Weindel.

When asked what will make 2013 a successful season, the ladies and their Head Coach have similar thinking.

"We come together as a team we have the skill we have the coaching everything is provided for us we just need to come together as a team and have a common goal," said Svisco.

"Incorporate all the newcomers into the system and take the next step from last year," said Baker.

"We have the talent and we have the players from every position and the depth to be successful now can we play together and execute at that level that's expected at Montana State," said Weindel.
