Bigfork Public Schools Passes Multi-Million Dollar Budget

Posted: Updated:
BIGFORK -

Bigfork Public Schools passed the nearly $8,000,000 budget for the upcoming school year this evening.

Bigfork Public Schools started final discussions about its nearly $8,000,000 budget for the upcoming school year on Tuesday evening. Despite some guesswork, Superintendent Cynthia Clary said she believes it will pass.

The budget for the Bigfork Elementary and High School districts is due before the end of August to the state of Montana.

There is a possibility that changes will be made to the budget before being passed at the meeting.

Clary says this year's proposal took more time than usual--trying to translate changes in recent legislation, to changes in funding.

"Every year is different because, you know, we're coming off a legislative year and so making sure that we have accurate numbers for funding from the state of Montana is always paramount," said Clary, "We have to plan a budget basically in advance of having firm numbers so it makes it a little more challenging sometimes when you're talking about staffing, but we're in good financial shape in Bigfork."

The board meeting started at 5:00 p.m.
