The Missoula Symphony Orchestra is preparing for their popular Symphony in the Park event taking place at Caras Park on Sunday.

Organizers said the orchestra will play classical pieces, but this year, musicians will also play a Saturday Night Fever medley and music from John Lennon.

Symphony organizers said this is the 9th annual symphony, and the event is always free and open to the public.

Darko Butorac, Missoula Symphony Music Director, said, "It's our thank you to the community, so I think people really appreciate that, and they like the easygoing nature of our organization, you know, oftentimes you think, you go the symphony and it's very stuffy, but no it's not, it's very laid back and it's all about the music ultimately."

Organizers said last year's performance drew a crowd of more than 5,000.

The symphony begins at 7 p.m. this Sunday at the pavilion in Caras Park.
