Roadside Artwork Unveiled

Posted: Updated:
KALISPELL -

After several years in the making, drivers in Kalispell are treated to a work of art.

This morning Sherry Sander, a local artist, unveiled the bronze sculpture that she designed at the intersection of Highways two and ninety-three.

According to Doug Russell, Kalispell's City Manager, this is the first public artwork display of its kind, and similar efforts in the future will be discussed by the town.

The city of Kalispell paid for the statue of two White-Tailed Deer back in 2007. It has been sitting in storage ever since.

"Any time you can do incremental improvements throughout your city...art has an opportunity to inspire a lot of different activity, a lot of different emotions within the community to the public," said Russell, "so always excited when we can make it--excuse me--incremental improvements throughout the city. So definitely happy to be a part of this process."

At 11 a.m. on August 9th the artist herself pulled off the tarp to unveil her work.
