As the calendar turns to August Legion baseball players know their season is coming to an end. For some it's the last time they will ever put on a uniform and head onto the field with their friends. But for three Missoula Mav's, their baseball lives together still have another chapter.
"We always wanted to play together somewhere in college just move forward and play some more baseball and Rheinschmidt was the first one to join the squad," said Mavs pitcher Anthony Contonio.
After Tanner Rheinschmidt committed to Spokane Falls Communty College, his buddies Tres Cunningham and Anthony Contonio still needed to make a decision.
"I was thinking about just playing football in-state and Tanner started talking to me about Spokane Falls. He said he signed there and I went on to visit there with Tony and we had a pretty good time and ever since then that's all I've wanted to do is go there," said Mavs second baseman Tres Cunningham.
The Mavs are currently at the state tournament in Billings and win or lose the three friends say they're excited knowing it won't be the last games they will play together.
"It's an awesome feeling knowing that guys you have played with your whole life they're coming to play college baseball with you," said Mavs outfielder Tanner Rheinschmidt.
"Just us three are great friends and knowing that I'm going to be with them most of the time just going to college with them and playing baseball it will be a good time," said Contonio.
The three have know each other for years but will do something they have never done before, live together.
"Yea that will be a little interesting at first, I mean school work definitely comes first but knowing those two will be around it will be hard to get your work done but we will get through it," said Contonio.
And as for who's going to be the one responsible one making sure the chores get done?
"I got to say it's going to be me because I know Tres and Tony won't do it," said Rheinschmidt.
"Tanner has most of that down, I will have to help them with their math homework probably though," said Cunningham.
"Probably me because I know Tres and Tanner kind of just sit there and don't do much so I will probably have to be the parent around the house," said Contonio.
