Americans Are Expected To Spend Less On School Supplies

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

The National Retail Federation is expecting people to spend less money on back to school this year.

The federation says that is because Americans spent a lot of money last year for back to school and those products are still good.

They say families with school-aged kids will spend $634 on new clothes, supplies and electronics.

That's down from nearly $688 last year.

In Bozeman, at least one mother said she's spending more this year.

"It increases every year, plus with some of the required supplies, the cost is higher," said Arelene Roberts, mother.

The National Retail Federal expects families to spend the most on new clothes.
