Missoula Arsonist Ordered to State Mental Hospital

MISSOULA -

On Tuesday in Missoula District Court, the man accused of purposely setting fire to an apartment complex in June, was ordered to the state mental hospital.

The defense attorney for Travis Crosby, 29, asked Judge Karen Townsend to release Crosby from jail.

Townsend denied that request, and ordered Crosby spend time at the state mental hospital in Warm Springs for further evaluation.

Crosby recently underwent a mental evaluation in Missoula, and Townsend said she based her decision on those results.

Court document show Crosby admitting to setting fire to the apartment complex because he was angry about an eviction notice he'd received.

Forty-one residents were displaced after the fire.
