At this time the Mill Creek Fire is 720 acres with 0% containment. Voluntary evacuations are in effect for Mill Creek, Fred Land, Bunchgrass, and Grooms Road. Residents who must return home are being allowed to do so.
175 personnel are working the fire overnight hoping to take advantage of cooler temperatures and higher relative humidity.
The Mill Creek Fire has grown to 550 acres as efforts are being made to slow the fire's progress.

The Missoula County Sheriffs Office announces that all homes north of Interstate 90 from the eastern reaches of Fred Lane west bound to Mill Creek and Spring Hill are receiving evacuation notices. The notices are currently voluntary but strongly encouraged. Residents may not receive second notification depending on the development of the fire and accessibility. Residents with disabilities or immobility are encouraged to evacuate as quickly as possible. Residents that have not yet been evacuated in the surrounding area are asked to ready their family and animals for evacuation. Small pets evacuated from vacant homes are being transported to Animal Control on Butler Creek. Staging for large livestock and horses will be at the Missoula County Fair Grounds. According to 911 reports, the fire was caused from a spark that was ignited from a lawnmower. Several hundred homes have received notices.
Fire officials say the Mill Creek Fire is about 100 acres. They say many homes are evacuated, but right now no structures are immediately threatened. Frontage Road and Mill Creek Road are closed. Homes on Tookie Trek and Hawthorn Springs are evacuated.
Officials say it looks like a boy started the fire while mowing a lawn. They say the boy is with officials and so far there are no injuries reported.

According to Frenchtown Rural Fire a grass fire is burning above houses in the Hawthorn Springs subdivision near Mill Creek Road.
