Crews Working To Clean Highway 89 After Mudslide

GARDINER -

You can still expect delays along Highway 89 north of Gardiner.

A mudslide covered the road yesterday-- closing it for about six hours.

Montana department of transportation officials worked through the night to remove the debris. They were able to get one lane open around 11:30 p.m. last night.

They expect the area to be completely cleaned sometime next week. Crews are saving the debris.

"We may use it for some road material for some future use, but no plans right now," said Steve Felix, Montana Department of Transportation.

Both lanes are open-- but officials have lowered the speed limit to 35 in the area. They're telling people to prepare for a 15-minute delay.
