F.W.P. Looking For Public Input On Bison Regulations

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and the Department of Livestock are seeking your comments on the potential of bison roaming lands next to Yellowstone National Park year-round.

The draft Environmental Assessment evaluates several options for allowing for more tolerance of bison in the Herbgen and Gardiner Basins.

The alternative widest area would allow for bison to roam year-round in portions of the Gallatin National Forest near West Yellowstone north through the Taylor Fork Drainage, as well as allowing bull bison to use areas north of Yellowstone National Park's boundary in the Gardiner Basin year-round.

Other alternatives focus on smaller areas along Yellowstone's western boundary or focus solely on the Gardiner Basin.

The assent also included a "no action" alternative, meaning no action would be taken.
