Daughter Speaks Out About Her Missing Mother

Posted: Updated:

BOZEMAN - Monta Lee Johnson has not been seen since Tuesday.

54-year-old, Monta Lee Johnson lives in the Legion Villa apartments in Bozeman. She has two daughters in Washington and a son in Florida.

Her daughter, Monique Johnson has not spoken to her mother since July 2nd and she said that is unusual.

"I haven't been able to contact her for a week and half and my mom was the type of person that would call us on a daily basis," said Johnson.

Monta is a diabetic and has a history of mental health issues.

"Her behavior may stand out," said Detective Scott McCormick, Bozeman Police Department.

Johnson said she feels like she has no control of the situation.

"I'm scared because I know the type of person my mom is and also the type of people that are out in this world," said Johnson.

Monta is 5'8" and about 180 pounds.

"My mother is very religious. She loves God more than anything in this world. She enjoys needle pointing and arts and crafts," said Johnson.

Office Manager at her apartment complex, Janet Argrew said she is very conservative and loves to walk.

"She always wears a cotton skirt. She wears white socks, walking shoes and long sleeve shirts," said Argrew.

Monta was last seen on Tuesday morning.

"We last got a call that she was in the Belgrade area around Jack Rabbit and Amsterdam road," said McCormick.

McCormick said they are responding to all calls and will keep the investigation open until they find her.

"We have reason to believe that after talking to family and friends, she may have tried to hitch hike or get a ride to Washington state," said McCormick. "We're checking homeless shelters between here and Washington. We have also put out a region wide attempt to locate, which will include all of the states in the northwest."

If you have seen Monta you are asked to call the Bozeman Police Department at 582-2000.

KHQ.COM - Mid August is about the time that we start to see spiders come into our homes, particularly the hobo spider. August and September is mating season for the hobo and that means you may be seeing more funnel-like webs in and around your home. Males are on a mission to find a female which is why they are a lot more active at this time.
