Ravalli County Attorney Proposes Reorganizing To Save Money

Posted: Updated:
HAMILTON -

The Ravalli County Attorney's Office is proposing a plan to save the county about $47,000. If given the go-ahead, Ravalli County Attorneys would take on child protection and labor negotiation cases which are currently done by paid contractors from outside the county.

Ravalli County Attorney Bill Fulbright said most of the work would fall on a new attorney hired to fill a current position. A receptionist will also be hired to free up time for attorneys.

"It's going to strengthen the county attorney's office," Fulbright said. "We've had good outside work in these areas, but it's time to bring it into the Ravalli County Attorney's Office, where it can be consolidated and save the county money."

The plan was approved by Ravalli County Commissioners in a preliminary vote. The decision won't be finalized until a vote in August.
