$35M in Construction Projects Underway at UM

MISSOULA -

The University of Montana has several big construction projects planned for the next several years that will hit the $35 million mark.

UM officials said the design process is underway for a "student athlete academic center" to be added onto the existing Adams Center.

They said the addition would include office space for athletic programs and a study area for athletes -- all funded by private donations.

Organizers will also shell out the Adams Center basement for further expansion.

"The institution as a whole has been on a forward and upward trajectory and it's going to continue to be that way, we have students here now and continue to have to change the way we provide education and services to those students," said Michael Reid, Vice President of Admin. and Finance.

UM officials plan to build the Gilkey Center for Executive Education, which will house UM's business school programs.

They said completion of the Interdisciplinary Science Building is also slated for this year.

They also plan to install a modular building near the boiler plant for the university's technology systems by next spring.
