Preparations for Southgate Mall Holiday Celebration

Posted: Updated:

With the Fourth of July finally here, detailed preparations are taking place at the Southgate Mall parking lot where the big fireworks show and ceremony will take place tonight.

"Well, as you can see, we have had crew out here since 9 in the morning setting up the stage, putting up the lights and sound and over there we have the firework technicians wiring the fireworks," said Southgate's Marketing Director, Trisha Piedalue.

But most importantly is the preparation for the main event, the fireworks show.

The manager for consumer fireworks said a lot goes into setting up the fireworks.

"It's an all day process, it takes a lot of time," Corrie Reed said.

Dwayne Anderson is responsible for the Southgate Mall fireworks show and he spent the day loading motors in the firework racks to run wires from swibs to an electric board.

That's where he will program the show to music by simply pressing buttons.

Piedalue said a lot of minute details are made to create the show but the outcome is worth the time.

"It's always exciting to have the event finally here and come together. Watching the crews putting it together and of course watching the enjoyment that comes from the crowds that get to watch it," Piedalue said.

Live music and special events will begin at nine p.m. , followed by the firework show at 10:30.
