Bozeman's Fireworks Show Is Musical

Firework technicians were busy getting the Gallatin County Fairgrounds ready for a big light show Thursday.  This year, the Bozeman fireworks display offers something unique.

Cole Trescott, of Big Sky Fireworks, said the second largest firework display in Montana will have its own soundtrack, and a show that large takes some planning.

"I coordinate the shells with the music and where it is in the timeline," said Trescott.

When you are setting up 1,500 shells, planning where to put the shells is key.

"We have the racks laid out where they are going to be in the program," said Trescott.

While Big Sky Fireworks spent 16 hours setting up a ton of fireworks explosives on the north side of the Gallatin County Fairgrounds, just south of them the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra was setting up for a free concert.

The Bozeman Symphony Orchestra Executive Director, Sherry Linnerooth, said they will have a wide range of music.
 
"We have a combination of patriotic and pop and a little bit of classical," said Linnerooth.  "So a variety of music."

Linnerooth said the community is overjoyed with the free concert.

"The community is overwhelmed," said Linnerooth.  "They think it's fabulous. They love getting together as the community."

The Bozeman Symphony Orchestra starts playing at 9 p.m. Thursday with the fireworks starting at 10:30 p.m.

Trescott said Bozeman's fireworks display is the second largest in Montana.  Only Butte's fireworks display is larger.
