The Rainbow Family Grandparents

JACKSON -

The Rainbow Family has no leaders and no organization, but they do have one couple that serve as an icon for the gathering.

Some are young and some are older, but regardless of age, the family looks up to Grandma and Grandpa Woodstock.

"On the street I spread peace and love," Grandpa Woodstock. "I go across country showing the peace sign on a stool. What I do here is I come here on the Fourth of July to pray for peace. While I'm here I get charged up."

Grandpa Woodstock is spreading peace and love around the country with his 90 year old wife, known as Grandma Woodstock.

The couple attended Woodstock in 1969 and have been coming to Rainbow Family Gatherings ever since.

While they're not traveling on bike, they live in Woodstock and hold gatherings of their own.

"Every Sunday we all meet there and have gatherings at my house," Grandma Woodstock said.

The couple serves the Rainbow Family as an icon.

Grandpa Woodstock even had his own television show back in the 1990s.

While the couple shares a love, they try to spread that love to everyone else.

"If you are alive and breathing, you are beautiful," Grandpa Woodstock said. "If you are alive, you have a heart, you have feelings. You laugh, you cry, you are human, you have feelings, then you are beautiful."

The couple says they plan to continue attending Rainbow Family Gatherings.
