Butte Teacher's Union Votes Against Ratifying Contract

BUTTE -

The Butte Teacher's Union voted not to ratify a collective bargaining agreement from the Butte School District Tuesday night.

The contract from the district offered teachers a 2% salary increase for next year and a 1.5% increase for the following year with insurance on a premium.

The union voted to turn the proposed contract down, and they're now discussing what their next step will be.

The teachers union could come back with a counter offer or the two sides can go to mediation.

If all falls through, the teachers could go on strike at the beginning of next school year.
