Rainbow Family Gathering Grows

More than 1,000 people and counting are currently at the national Rainbow Gathering near Jackson.

According to U.S. Forest Service officials, folks are setting up camps, kitchens, and other functional areas.

An incident management team has been called in to patrol the gathering. They say traffic in the area is constant.

There are currently more than 150 cars at the site.

The gathering is scheduled to start on July first and go through the 7th.

The management team says they expect the gathering to grow in the next couple days.

"With the weather improving, the numbers will increase considerably," said Cass Cairns with the National Incident Management Team. "Estimating how much is hard to say, but it definitely will increase an awful lot. That means traffic flow on the main access roads to the site will also increase. Folks will need to drive carefully."

The U.S. Forest Service also says they will be holding public meetings starting tomorrow evening.

From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., there will be an informative meeting at the Dillon Elementary School.

On Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. there will meet a second meeting at the Wisdom Community Center in Wisdom.
