"We are close to the mountains so I'm kind of a beach person and I really like the sun and the beach and I obviously like basketball," said new lady cats assistant basketball coach Salvo Coppa.
New lady cats assistant coach Salvo Coppa trades the beach, for the beautiful mountains. The Italian just got done coaching the women's Thailand national team, and wanted to bring what he's learned in Italy and Thailand, to the U.S.
"He definitely likes to watch and see first and then he has a lot to say. He's very specific about it," said Lady Cats Head Coach Tricia Binford.
Because Coach Coppa is from Siracusa Italy, he brings that European flair, which will help the Lady Cats in many ways.
"The European style definitely plays into what the bobcats do, we like it up tempo, spread, lot of spacing there he's definitely familiar with that," said Binford.
"In Europe we're focused on fundamentals we work twice a day and when I was working in Italy we were working professional we were working a lot on fundamentals," said Coppa.
He's only been in Bozeman a few days, but likes the friendly people.
"The warm of the people typical of the small town there's a lot of hospitality," said Coppa.
