F.W.P - Don't Touch Wild Animals

BOZEMAN -

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is warning residents not to disturb young wildlife.

In the last week, the Bozeman office has been contacted about "baby" raccoons, ducks and three fawns.

The F.W.P. is reminding people "If you care, leave them there." They say this means people should not move or attempt to feed newborn wildlife.

Wildlife officials said attempting to help animals could actually hurt them. "That mother is going to come back looking for that animal and if it sees you there or smells you in the area, it's not going to come back," said Andrea Jones, F.W.P. Region 3 spokesperson.

Jones said people shouldn't bring animals to F.W.P. offices because they are not able to rehabilitate most animals.
