Rainbow Family Continues Spring Council Gathering

Posted: Updated:
RACETRACK -

What started as a small group of people has now grown to almost 300 people at the Rainbow Family spring council gathering.

The group has gathered at the Racetrack Campgrounds with a goal of deciding on where in Montana they will hold their national gathering, a gathering that could be up to 30,000 people.

"It's hard to say specifically because there is so many little potential sites," said Lucid, a cook in one of the gathering's kitchens. "You kind of just have to scan meadows on Google Earth. I couldn't give you a list of locations because the people that could are out looking at them right now."

Since last Friday the family has had circle discussions as a whole to determine where the best location would be.

The possible locations are all in western Montana, and at the most 150 miles from the current spring council gathering in Racetrack.

"It's really just a matter of isolating the potential places of which there is maybe 30 to 40 potential places, and then narrowing that down to the ones that are worth investigating on foot," Lucid said.

Currently, the rainbow family has people scouting the various possible locations.

By the end of the week, those folks will return to the racetrack campgrounds and another circle discussion will take place.

And by early next week, a final decision is expected to be made through consensus.

The goal of the rainbow family national gathering is to peacefully assemble on public land.

There they will pray for peace and love.

The gathering will take place in early July.
