    KHQ.COM - Detectives continue to investigate the altercation that led to the death of William Berger, that occurred June 6, 2013 in the area of 55th and Regal.
    KHQ.COM - Detectives continue to investigate the altercation that led to the death of William Berger, that occurred June 6, 2013 in the area of 55th and Regal. Detectives are still working to interview all the witnesses that observed the incident, and have obtained two search warrants relating to this investigation.
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies Shawn Audie and Steve Paynter were the deputies that responded to the Disorderly Person call at 7:06 p.m. on Thursday evening, June 6, 2013, at Oz Fitness located at 5501 S. Regal St. 
 
Deputy Shawn Audie has been employed with the Sheriff's Office for twelve years. He is a Field Training Officer as well as a Defensive Tactics Instructor. Deputy Audie has received twelve letters of commendation during his twelve years with the Sheriff's Office.
 
Deputy Steve Paynter has been employed with the Sheriff's Office for thirteen years and was previously a Field Training Officer. Deputy Paynter has received eleven letters of commendation during his thirteen years with the Sheriff's Office.
