Hearing on Legacy Ranch

Posted: Updated:

Ravalli County Commissioners heard public comment Monday about a controversial proposed subdivision.

The proposal is for a 509-lot subdivision on 370 acres in the Bitterroot Valley. The area is near the Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge.

Opponents say adding that many homes could cause problems for wildlife, roads, schools and utilities. Supporters say the development would be over a number of years and could provide more tax revenue to the county.

If commissioners approve Legacy Ranch, state agencies will continue the review process and construction could begin in 2019.
