Frenchtown opened the state tournament against Anaconda and it was the two plays in centerfield that had everyone talking. First Lauren Bolton robbed Abby Indreland of a game tying home run, then in the bottom of the seventh Morgan Ray hit a walk off home run off of Bolton's glove.
"I thought it was going to be the double the one where it's an automatic double but then every was telling me to come on so I was like okay and I went home and it was super exciting," said Sophomore Morgan Ray.
After ten run ruling Billings Central Frenchtown played their arch nemesis Polson in the quarterfinals. Morgan Ray brought her strikeout stuff and Frenchtown advances winning 5-0..
"Yea it's awesome to beat Polson at state but we know that we have two more games," said senior Abby Indreland.
The first of those games was against Columbia Falls and Frenchtown used their second walk off hit to go to the championship game this time by Vanessa Stavish.
After Polson battled through the consolation bracket it set up another match up between the two powerhouses.
Polson got on the board first after a Ray wild pitch, but that would be the only time they would score in the game.
After Stavish tied the game at ones in the bottom of the seventh we went into extra innings. After a scoreless top of the eighth, Kayla Blood came to bat and delivered the state championship winning hit.
"It was the best feeling in the world, there is just no other feeling that can beat this feeling," said junior Kayla Blood.
"It's amazing to say you have won state and softball is my favorite sport so it's just amazing," said Ray.
